Alaska teachers utilize Model Teaching courses every year to earn academic credits for license renewal. All Model Teaching university-partnered courses provide graduate-level semester credit for license renewal or salary advancement purposes. You may choose any Model Teaching university-partnered courses of interest or enroll in one of our Course Bundle Packs – the most cost-effective way to earn credits.
Regionally-Accredited Semester Credits
Model Teaching offers great options for Alaska teachers to earn semester credits from accredited universities in order to renew or maintain their teaching certification.
Our Academic Credit University-Partnered Courses meet the requirements for Alaska teacher license renewal and Professional Development hours. All courses completed through our academic partners will include access to an official transcript from that academic institution for submission to any license-granting authority. However, we encourage users to confirm their specific teaching license renewal requirements with their state or local licence-granting authority prior to enrolling.
The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development requires teacher certifications to be renewed every 5 years. Six semester or nine quarter hours of credit are required for renewal or reinstatement of a 5-year or 10-year certificate. At least three of the six semester hours or five of the nine quarter hours of the required credits must be upper division or graduate level coursework. Non-academic credits and CEUs do not satisfy the upper division coursework requirement for the renewal of a 5-year or 10-year certificate.
Only credits and CEUs completed after the issue date of the certificate being renewed or reinstated can be used to satisfy the credit requirement.
ALLOWABLE CREDIT
College/University Credit:
- College or university credit can be earned through a regionally accredited institution. Teachers must submit official transcripts.
