Be sure to confirm your specific teaching license renewal requirements with your state or local license-granting authority prior to enrolling.
South Dakota teachers must complete 6 education-related credits over a 5-year period to renew their teacher license. Only 3 of these credits must be taken through a regionally-accredited college or university. The remaining 3 credits (45 hours) can be taken through education-related organizations.
One University credit= 15 Professional Development hours.
Model Teaching offers professional development courses as well as university-partnered, academic credit courses provided through regionally-accredited university partners. Both our Non-University Partnered Professional Development, and University-Partnered Academic Credit Courses should meet the requirements for South Dakota teacher license renewal and Professional Development requirements. All courses completed through our academic partners will include access to an official transcript from that academic institution for submission to any license-granting authority. All non-academic professional development courses taken through Model Teaching will include a certificate of completion, documenting your earned credit hours.
If you would like to confirm approval of a course, please feel free to complete and email our Request Course Approval form to the South Dakota Department of Education.
