Texas Teacher License Renewal Requirements

All Model Teaching Professional Development Courses are TEA-Approved for Texas Teacher CPE Hours

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires teachers who hold a standard teaching certificate to renew every five years by completing 150 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) clock hours from an approved CPE provider.

Model Teaching is an approved CPE provider in the state of Texas (CPE# 902-391, Under Parent Company: Action Potential Learning), and all courses completed come with a certificate of completion documenting your earned hours, ready for submission to TEA. We also offer University-Partnered Academic Credit Courses for teacher salary advancement and credentialing.

  • TEA approved provider of continuing professional development (CPE) clock hours (CPE# 902-391).  Under parent organization: Action Potential Learning.
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion to submit to TEA at the conclusion of each course.

About Our Courses


Model Teaching and its parent organization Action Potential Learning is an approved CEP provider under TEA.  All Model Teaching courses provide a certificate of completion to teachers or educators who have successfully completed their coursework containing the requisite information for submission of earned CPE hours to TEA. Please present this completion certificate to TEA as part of your teacher certification renewal. Each course certificate comes complete with:

  • The provider’s name (Model Teaching Courses from Action Potential Learning, LLC)
  • Our TEA-approved CPE number (902-391)
  • The course completion date
  • Micro-credentials earned, documenting core skills mastered
  • The name and course topic
  • The number of clock hours completed

Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires renewal of teacher’s teaching certificate every 5 years. Teachers are required to complete 150 CPE hours in order to maintain certification. Administrators and educators holding a professional certificate must complete 200 CPE hours to renew.

CPE hours include activities such as: courses offered through an approved provider, workshops, conferences, college-level coursework, and online course through an approved provider.

Model Teaching offers both Online Professional Development courses as well as Online University-Partnered courses offered through regionally-accredited universities.  Although not required for Texas teachers, our Academic Credit courses may be used for salary advancement and in some cases, can be applied towards graduate-level degrees.

Texas teachers may use our regular Professional Development courses for their CPE and clock-hour needs.  You will receive a certificate of completion upon successful submission of each course you take, ready for TEA submission.
