(24 Hrs) This course will define memory theories and help participants learn about the three memory processes: encoding, storage, and retrieval. By the end of the course, participants will be able to explicitly teach strategies and incorporate them into their daily practices to develop students’ encoding and storage skills and, most importantly, their ability to recall information from memory.

Psychologists have spent decades developing memory theories that explain how the brain takes in new information, retains it, and retrieves it when a student needs it.
This course provides teachers with a working knowledge of 12 memory theories across the three stages of memory: encoding, storage, and retrieval. You will study each theory, see it play out in classroom scenarios, and learn the instructional strategies to put it into practice. By the end of the course, you will build a three-part plan you can apply to your own lesson planning, your own students, and your own content area.
