This course prepares you to implement the explicit instruction model into your elementary reading classroom. This research- backed method of teaching reading skills through a very targeted and specific gradual release method is a great strategy for your reading lesson design. Explicit instruction includes a modeling component, guided practice, independent practice, and a method of assessment. In this course you will learn how to select the correct reading behavior or skill for your student or groups, how to build a plan aligned to student goals, and how to implement the lesson into your classroom.
