What You Will Learn

Many of us have heard about teachers “flipping” their classrooms. This might involve reading material or watching a video outside of class, and then taking a quiz covering the material in class or completing some practice problems. With true Flipped Learning, direct instruction takes place outside of the classroom environment, typically in a student’s home through the use of technology. The classroom then becomes a place for in-depth application of new knowledge, where students are creatively engaged in learning.

This course is essential training for any teacher providing a combination of at-home (or out-of-class) online learning and in-school classroom instruction. Learn how to plan for flipped learning, including how to determine what content can be learned at home, how to deliver online lessons, and the best ways to reinforce student knowledge with rigorous in-class activities.

You Will Learn:

• The foundations of Flipped Learning including an at-home or out-of-class content component and rigorous, high-level thinking in-class learning experiences.
• How to analyze a content standard to determine what knowledge can be learned at home and what skills need to be practiced in the classroom.
• How to deliver content electronically, ensuring that students are engaged, as well as how to check for content mastery.
• How to make the most of in-class time through cooperative learning and hands-on application tasks.
